After 12 hours of nonstop table tennis and more than 40,000 steps, Paddy Crump said the ache in his feet was nothing compared to the battles he’s faced with his mental health.
The 20-year-old from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, took on the challenge from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, rallying with more than 17 different players to raise funds for The Hub, a local centre that provides youth activities and crucial support for people dealing with mental health struggles and suicidal thoughts.
By the end of the day, Paddy had collected over £3,500 for the cause — a mission that means a great deal to him personally. Living with OCD and having faced periods of depression, he described the 2020 lockdown as one of the hardest times of his life, saying this event was a way to turn past pain into something positive.
